Solar + Battery Systems

Keep the lights on day and night. By pairing solar with home battery storage, we store excess daytime energy to use in the evening, during outages, and when utility rates peak. We design right-sized systems—from essential-circuits backup to whole-home power—so you save more and stay protected.

What’s Included in a Professional Solar + Storage Installation

  • Load analysis & backup priorities (critical loads vs. whole-home)
  • Right-sized battery capacity (kWh) & power (kW) for your goals
  • Hybrid inverter / energy storage system selection & layout
  • Critical-loads subpanel or whole-home backup design
  • Permitting, utility approvals & interconnection paperwork
  • UL 9540 / NEC-compliant installation with clean conduit & labeling
  • Commissioning, outage testing & app-based monitoring setup
  • Time-of-Use (TOU) savings setup: charge low, discharge high
  • Optional generator integration and future battery expansion
  • Comprehensive workmanship & manufacturer warranties
  • Ongoing service, maintenance & performance checks
Whether your priority is outage protection, evening self-consumption, or beating TOU rates—we’ll engineer a storage solution that fits your home, budget, and utility program. We also design for expansion, so you can add battery capacity later as your needs grow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels convert sunlight into direct current (DC) electricity. An inverter then changes it into alternating current (AC), which powers your home. Any excess energy can be stored in batteries or sent back to the grid.

Will solar really save me money?

Yes — most homeowners see significant savings. Solar reduces or eliminates your monthly electric bill, protects against rising utility rates, and can increase your property value.

What incentives or tax credits are available?

The federal residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025, so it is not available for new installations. Some state or utility incentives may still apply, and our team will help you check what is available for your home.

Do solar panels work on cloudy days or at night?

Yes — solar panels still generate electricity on cloudy days, though at reduced output. At night, panels don’t produce, but stored energy or grid power keeps your home running.

How long does a solar installation take?

The on-site installation usually takes 1–3 days, depending on system size. Including permits and inspections, the entire process can take 4–8 weeks from contract to activation.

How much roof space do I need for solar?

Most homes need 300–500 square feet of usable roof space. The exact number depends on your energy use, roof orientation, shading, and the efficiency of the panels selected.

Do solar panels require maintenance?

Solar panels have no moving parts and require very little maintenance. Occasional cleaning and annual inspections help maintain peak performance. Most systems come with 20–25 year warranties.

Will solar panels damage my roof?

No — panels can actually protect the roof underneath them. Our certified installers use flashing and sealing methods that maintain roof integrity and prevent leaks.

Can solar panels power my home during a blackout?

Standard grid-tied systems shut off during outages for safety. To have backup power during blackouts, you’ll need solar with a battery system or generator integration.

How long do solar panels last?

Most solar panels last 25–30 years and continue producing electricity beyond their warranty, though at slightly reduced efficiency.

Don and the rest of the crew did an excellent job upgrading our house HVAC systems. Don spent hours dialing in our project. His quotes were extremely thorough and fit our budget. Steve performed the technical walk-through and the actual removal and new install, with Ivan. These guys worked their behinds off on two of the hottest days this Summer in the attic of our house--without a complaint or hesitation. Impressive! Impressive too that the job they did was excellent. We're really happy with our new variable speed system--it has been keeping us comfortable since it came online. Thanks to all the folks at U.S. Energy Solutions. We'd recommend them highly to anyone for their integrity, competency and true commitment to excellence in their work.

Our technician was JC and he was professional, and very knowledgeable. Our Generac generator had nothing on the screen and it ended up that we needed a new battery( after 6 years). He also reconnected us to our WiFi which we also lost. He got it up and running, did all the regular maintenance, oil change, filters , etc and we are now good to go. We will never use another company. US Energy Solutions are the very best!!
