Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I service my HVAC system?

We recommend at least once a year — ideally in spring for cooling systems and fall for heating systems. Regular service helps maintain efficiency and prevents breakdowns.

How long do HVAC systems typically last?

Most HVAC systems last 10–15 years with proper maintenance. Heat pumps may last up to 12 years, while furnaces can last 15–20 years depending on use and care.

How can I lower my energy bills with my HVAC system?

Regular maintenance, replacing filters every 1–3 months, sealing ductwork, and upgrading to energy-efficient equipment all help reduce energy costs.

When should I replace my HVAC system instead of repairing it?

If your system is over 10 years old, requires frequent repairs, or your energy bills are rising despite maintenance, replacement may be more cost-effective.

What size HVAC system do I need?

System size depends on your home’s square footage, insulation, windows, and climate. Our technicians perform a load calculation to recommend the correct size.

How often should I change my HVAC filters?

Most standard filters should be replaced every 1–3 months. High-efficiency filters may last longer, but check monthly for dust buildup.

What’s the difference between a heat pump and an air conditioner?

An air conditioner only cools your home, while a heat pump can both heat and cool by reversing its operation. Heat pumps are popular for year-round comfort.

How do I know if my HVAC system is energy-efficient?

Check the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating for cooling and AFUE (Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency) for heating. Higher ratings mean better efficiency.

Why is my HVAC system making strange noises?

Unusual sounds may indicate loose parts, worn belts, debris in the system, or failing components. Schedule an inspection to prevent further damage.

Do you offer HVAC maintenance plans?

Yes. We offer affordable seasonal and annual maintenance plans that include inspections, tune-ups, priority service, and discounts on repairs.

Don and the rest of the crew did an excellent job upgrading our house HVAC systems. Don spent hours dialing in our project. His quotes were extremely thorough and fit our budget. Steve performed the technical walk-through and the actual removal and new install, with Ivan. These guys worked their behinds off on two of the hottest days this Summer in the attic of our house--without a complaint or hesitation. Impressive! Impressive too that the job they did was excellent. We're really happy with our new variable speed system--it has been keeping us comfortable since it came online. Thanks to all the folks at U.S. Energy Solutions. We'd recommend them highly to anyone for their integrity, competency and true commitment to excellence in their work.

Ivan Gretchen and Steven Salazar did a great job installing my mom’s hv/ac unit and heat pump hot water heater. They both were very professional and very knowledgeable on the products they were installing sticking around to make sure my mom and I understood this new technology “new to us”. They left no mess and cleaned up all the old equipment that came out of the house.

Our technician was JC and he was professional, and very knowledgeable. Our Generac generator had nothing on the screen and it ended up that we needed a new battery( after 6 years). He also reconnected us to our WiFi which we also lost. He got it up and running, did all the regular maintenance, oil change, filters , etc and we are now good to go. We will never use another company. US Energy Solutions are the very best!!
